BridgePoint Revolutionizes Analytical Processing With Oracle Database embedded OLAP

BridgePoint now provides unsurpassed analytical value with Oracle Database embedded OLAP technology

Cary, NC, January 7, 2004 -- BridgePoint, Inc., the leading provider of global, multimode supply chain visibility and exception management solutions, and Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL) announced today that BridgePoint has upgraded its analytics tool to exploit the powerful Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) capabilities embedded in the Oracle Database. BridgePoint will utilize Oracle Database technology to support advanced modeling, forecasting, and trend analysis, offering increased value to its customers for long-term, strategic, logistics management.

"We are pleased that BridgePoint has decided to take advantage of the OLAP capabilities embedded in the Oracle Database to improve their supply chain visibility offering," said Ray Roccaforte, vice president of server development, Business Intelligence, Oracle Corp. "In doing so, BridgePoint is enabling its customers to aggregate and analyze shipment information needed to improve their logistics performance."

Years ago, BridgePoint was the first supply chain visibility provider to offer analytical tools to help customers use historical shipment information to analyze logistics operations. By using the wide-ranging capabilities of the OLAP option to the Oracle Database, BridgePoint is now able to offer customers the ability to:

  • Determine root-cause analysis of supply chain performance issues by allowing users to drill-down past the aggregated data into the actual transaction data even at the order, shipment, and stock-keeping unit level.

  • Provide enterprise systems with aggregated shipment information in order to streamline business processes and information access.

  • Compare and analyze multiple data elements concurrently in order to facilitate strategic planning.

  • Accelerate the integration of daily tactical order and shipment information into the analytical data warehouse in order to account for recent events into strategic planning efforts.

"Our customers are increasingly depending on accurate order and shipment visibility information in order to reduce operating costs and improve customer satisfaction" says Peter Sola vice president of commercial services at BridgePoint. "By leveraging the built-in analytical power of Oracle Database, we have dramatically improved our customers' ability to strategically identify and remove supply chain inefficiencies."
